Samsung shelved its VR (virtual reality) efforts a few years back and shifted focus to AR. It has filed patent applications for various AR products over the years. The company also showcased a prototype of its first-gen AR glasses at CES 2020. The pair leaked in official concept videos shortly after that, giving us a glimpse of what to expect. However, more than two years later, no such product has come out through Samsung’s doors yet....
Samsung has just published its Q1 2022 earnings report and the numbers are staggering. The company reported consolidated revenue of KRW 77.78 trillion (roughly $61.15 billion) for the first three months of the year. That’s up 18.9 percent from KRW 65.39 trillion in Q1 2022. Perhaps it’s a record in the company’s history. Its previous all-time high quarterly consolidated revenue came in Q4 2021, i.e. the last quarter, when it posted KRW 76....
The Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update for the Galaxy A53 5G is currently available for carrier-locked units in the US. The rollout began recently for users on Xfinity Mobile and Comcast networks. The updated firmware version for the phone is A536USQU4BVK3 (via). Samsung should soon expand the release to other carrier variants as well as unlocked models. The handset has already picked up the big Android update in most global markets....
The new report doesn’t go into details regarding the changes that system animations will see with One UI 5.0. Perhaps the changes are minor but will add to the overall user experience. With more devices now coming with 90Hz or 120Hz display refresh rates, faster animations will certainly make navigating smoother. Even Google is making changes to Android system animations with Android 13. The fingerprint unlocking animation, loading of apps onto the homescreen, notification tray expansion animation, and transition from one settings page to another will all feel faster on the next Android version....
As you might have guessed, there are a few caveats or conditions that you need to be wary of here. Firstly, this promotion is only valid for Galaxy S, Galaxy Note, and Galaxy A series phones launched in 2019 and beyond. This covers the Galaxy S9, S10, S20, S21, S22, Note 9, Note 10, Note 20, and all recent budget and mid-range models. But the likes of the Galaxy S20 FE and Galaxy S21 FE aren’t eligible, and neither are any Samsung foldables....
